The aims of surgery
For many women, breasts are an important part of their sense of femininity. Small or very minimally developed breasts can cause discomfort and self-consciousness.
Women seeking greater breast volume may choose between breast implants and lipofilling.
The importance of your first consultation
Communication and trust between surgeon and patient are essential.
Your questions will be discussed and a thorough examination performed to gather all the information needed for surgery.
Your surgeon will work with you to find a suitable solution and explain the benefits and risks of breast augmentation.
During this first consultation, you will receive advice on your options, including the choice between implants and fat transfer.
Your surgeon can then recommend a surgical plan based on your anatomy, examination findings and wishes.
What is lipofilling?
Lipofilling (or lipostructure) is a cosmetic surgery technique in which fat is taken from an area where it is in excess and reinjected into an area needing volume or reshaping. It is an autologous graft (the patient is her own donor).
This fat transfer technique can help women with insufficient breast volume feel more comfortable with their femininity, without implants or silicone.
Removing excess fat also refines the waist and body contours. Using this fat to increase breast volume can create a slimmer overall silhouette.
Breast augmentation with fat transfer requires sufficient available body fat. The principle is to transfer fat from one or more areas of the body to the breasts.

How is the procedure performed?
Lipofilling, or autologous fat grafting, takes place in two stages.
1) First, the surgeon performs liposuction to collect fat. Fat may be taken from the abdomen, hips, outer thighs, buttocks, love handles or another suitable donor area. The collected fat is then purified to remove cells unsuitable for grafting.
2) The final stage consists of reinjecting the purified fat into the breasts to increase their volume.
What happens after surgery?
Breast lipofilling increases breast volume naturally, without visible scarring or a foreign body (breast implants).
This breast augmentation technique offers several benefits. Fat transfer refines the silhouette while increasing breast volume during the same operation. As the injected fat comes from the patient’s own body, it avoids allergy or rejection associated with foreign material. The surgeon simply transfers the fat.
What results can you expect?
Results begin to appear two to three weeks after surgery, with the final outcome visible between three and six months. The added volume feels soft and looks very natural.
Some of the injected fat is naturally absorbed by the body in the weeks after surgery. Fat that has survived after three months remains permanently. It responds to weight changes, increasing or decreasing along with the rest of the body.
What complications are possible?
As with any operation, complications can occur, either related to the surgical procedure or to anaesthesia.
Although complications affect only a small percentage of patients, you need to be aware of them. Your surgeon will explain all possible complications in detail during your consultations.
